The Lifeguard Team in Knoxville has been pretty busy the past couple of weeks, attending parties and other events at several of our facilities. Tina and Lori have both been invited to several gatherings lately.

NHC Knoxville and NHC Fort Sanders each hosted a birthday party for all of their residents with January birthdays. The residents really loved the party, even those without January birthdays had a blast. Lori shared her birthday theory with several of the residents, “The older you get, the longer you get to celebrate,” which brought many laughs and smiles to the party. The parties included cake and punch, and of course, the party did not end without singing “Happy Birthday!” Lifeguard was there to help serve food and feed those who were unable to feed themselves.

NHC Fort Sanders also hosts a Happy Hour party every other month. All of the ladies in the activities department made appetizers and the drink of the month was the Winter Sangria. Lifeguard employees helped serve the residents at the party. The actitivies director led the group in the YMCA, Raising the Roof, and several other dances. As Lifeguard's team members tried to help the residents back to their rooms, they resisted the fact that the party was over. Several residents asked where they were going, because they were not read to leave Happy Hour.

The Knoxville sales team, Tina and Lori also had the opportunity to be two of the judges for the Chili Cookoff at Northhaven Health Care Center. Several employees brought chili, to be judged on the Spiciest, the Most Unusual, and the Best All Around Chili. The picture below with the ladies holding the trophies is all of the winners from the Chili Cookoff. Pictured from left to right are Nikki - "Most Unusual Chili;" Diane - "Best All Around Chili;" and Cheryl - "Spiciest Chili." After the judging, the facility opened the dining room up to anyone to purchase a bowl of chili. The proceeds went to help fund a new piano for the dining room. Lifeguard crew members were also invited to come to lunch.
