Celebrating the Holidays with Loved Ones

Spending the holidays with family and friends can prove to be challenging for those individuals living in skilled nursing facilities. Each year, Lifeguard offers its complimentary, Home for the Holidays, assistance program for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

Holiday traditions are unique for each and every family. Some families spend the days enjoying a large feast, trimming the tree, opening presents, baking goodies, decorating gingerbread houses, singing carols, playing holiday-themed games, or watching football games and holiday parades. Although traditions are important, the memories stem from the special time when families are together.

This year, Lifeguard was able to provide 21 Home for the Holidays transports on Thanksgiving Day and 14 over the Christmas holidays.

The holidays can be a very difficult time for families, especially if they are separated from their loved ones. Through this program, residents meeting established criteria, are given the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day together. Lifeguard is honored to offer this service to the communities we serve. The crews working these holidays are truly blessed through the program, especially when they see the joy and excitement of the families when they are reunited.
